OSCAR submissions will be accepted and reviewed one time during the year, with due date of April 30. (No late entries will be accepted.) If you wish for your OSCAR to be previewed for corrections (before final submission), please submit no later than March 30.
Please note the following:
All sections are mandatory and must include one of the Ohio Standards for School Counselors. Standard 5 must be used in the School Climate and Safety Section.
Principal's Message has a 250 word limit.

OHIO SCHOOL COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR CRITERIA

OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship
Please note: Applications must be submitted by April 30 of each year.

OSCA believes in the benefit of supporting the future of the school counseling profession in Ohio and has committed to help quality school counseling graduate students fulfill their educational goals by offering two (2) $1000 OSCA Graduate Student Scholarships each year. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving school counseling graduate students who meet the following qualifications:

currently enrolled in a master's school counselor program in the state of Ohio (note that students enrolled in online programs are not eligible to apply unless the online program is run through an Ohio institution)
has completed at least six (6) semester hours of graduate work (note that students enrolled in their final semester of study and preparing to graduate are not eligible to apply)
maintains an active student membership with OSCA

The application must include the following:

Completed scholarship application form (download above)
A typewritten essay of no more than one double-spaced page answering the following question: "How do school counselors utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration to effect systemic change in schools to maximize student success"
Copy of official graduate school transcripts showing a minimum of 6 completed credit hours
Professional letter of support written by a current academic adviser or professor

All applications must be postmarked by April 30 of each year and uploaded to this site.

Incomplete applications or those determined to not meet the above criteria will not be considered. Past OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship recipients are not eligible.

OSCA High School Scholarship Application
To assist future Ohio students in a helping profession fulfill their educational goals, the Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA) offers one (1) $500 Undergraduate Student Scholarship each year for high school seniors.
